In collaboration with Louis Poulsen, the well-known Danish artist Olafur Eliasson has created a large-scale suspension. With the complex forms of the OE Quasi, Eliasson combines his interest in geometry and light, reinforcing the idea shared by Louis Poulsen that the quality of light is fundamental to our lives. The suspension is composed of two contrasting but interconnected geometric shapes. The outer layer is a rigid aluminum frame in the shape of an icohexahedron with 20 triangular faces. Inside the frame floats the internal shape of a white polycarbonate reflector as the geometry of a dodecahedron with 12 pentagonal faces. The LED lights are integrated into the upper corners of the aluminum frame connected to light guides along the internal edges. The light is directed towards the reflector in the center, creating spherical illumination that spreads into the surrounding environment. The OE Quasi was created with sustainability in mind, a core value in Eliasson's work. Aluminum is 90% recycled, the other materials are entirely recyclable. Designed to last a long time, the product design allows for the replacement and recycling of all parts. The complex geometric shape of the OE Quasi is perceived differently depending on the position of the observer and creates an infinite number of interpretations and perspectives. With its incredible shape, the OE Quasi will illuminate and visually interact with any space while creating soft, glare-free light.
Lighting System
strong>The suspension has 12 LEDs integrated into the internal vertices of the geometric frame which are connected to light guides along the internal edges, creating uniform illumination towards the reflector in the center of the lamp. The layered white reflector emits a spherical light inside the room that is uniform and glare-free.

OLAFUR ELIASSON
The artist Olafur Eliasson (Iceland/Denmark), born in 1967, he is active in various sectors that include installations, painting, sculpture, photography and cinematography. Since 1997, his solo exhibitions have been exhibited in major museums around the world. Part of his activity is the teaching of artistic education, the definition of strategies and issues relating to sustainability and climate change. Eliasson's projects in public spaces include The New York City Waterfalls, 2008, Your rainbow panorama, 2006–11; Ice Watch, 2014; and Fjordenhus, Vejle, 2018.
His interest in polyhedra, spheres and curves, the results of years of constant analyzes carried out together with his studio team, arise from desire to create alternatives to the orthogonal thinking dominant in modern architecture, art and design, seeking forms that can counteract the numbness of our senses. This attention to the physical and emotional effects of the surrounding environment is at the heart of the lamp that Eliasson designed for Louis Poulsen.
