Louis Poulsen Ph 3½-3 Glass Suspension lamp 33 cm white - black

The PH 3½-3 Glass Pendant represents one of the many innovative projects undertaken in 1926 by Poul Henningsen to develop his world-famous three-shade system. Poul Henningsen spent much of his life studying electric light. His three-shade design, based on the lithos, or logarithmic spiral, was intended to optimise the use of the light source. His studies were the result of numerous calculations and tests. The shape of the shades was related to the way the light was to be shaped and reflected. The lamp was also designed to provide glare-free lighting. The opal white glass shades soften the overall appearance of the lamp and illuminate the surrounding area with the perfect, harmonious and glare-free light that only the classic three-shade system can provide. The shades are made of three-layer opal glass, polished on the upper surface and sandblasted and satin-finished on the lower surface, to create a soft and uniform distribution of light.

Lighting system

The luminaire has been designed according to the principle of three reflective shades that direct most of the light downwards. The shades are made of three-layer blown opal glass, polished on the upper surface and sandblasted and satin-finished on the lower surface, to provide a soft and uniform distribution of light.
