The 212/SX builds on the strengths of the legendary 212/SE. Improved alloy drivers with carbon fiber blades are stronger, a new flat passive radiator extends even deeper, and our PerfectFilter™ delivers deep, crushing bass with more speed and air, taking the 212/SX far beyond its illustrious predecessor.

The Mighty 212/SX - Quality Meets Quantity
At REL, a deeper understanding of quality underpins everything we do. So while the 212/SX thunders and shakes the foundations, it also resolves detail and restores midrange warmth to its proper balance. At 1,000 watts with (4) 12" (350mm) drivers, the 212/SX drives rooms hard and in more modes, allowing it to create richer bass anywhere in a room.
Refinements to both our legendary ultra-fast filters and newly designed drivers produce a harder slam and create quieter, more delicate moments, improving system performance at both extremes. It works brilliantly in both high-end 2-channel applications and large power theaters.
Double Up - Twin Continuous Cast™ Alloy Bass Motors
Lightweight carbon fiber blades firmly attached to the rear of each active alloy cone serve to both strengthen the cone and make it quiet. The twin 12" (300mm) active drivers now offer an additional 12mm of travel and also benefit from updated suspension geometry and increased power handling. And an all-new high-powered dual-spider passive unit at the bottom delivers floor-rippling bass. The result is a major step forward in the 212's design, an already brilliant performer that now goes louder with greater ease, while preserving the smallest details of air and space with even greater precision.
Sound Beyond Its Size - Dual Continuous Carbon Passive Radiators
Our uniquely tuned passive radiators use special suspension, now with 30mm more linear travel, to produce performance far beyond conventional subwoofers. Our new SuperProgressive™ passive radiator produces an extremely long stroke that allows very strong output while maintaining the variable stiffness of its suspension.
The passive down firing produces deep, floor-crawling, room-shaking bass. Mounted above the amplifier panel on the back is the second passive. This unit produces enveloping "atmospheric" bass that adds air and sparkle to the sound. Coupling to the rear wall or rear corner of a room allows the bass to develop extremely long wavefronts and adds an ease and effortless quality unique to single-box designs.
NextGen 5 1,000W Digital Amplifier - Whoever said "Power corrupts" never heard a 212/SX
With incredible reliability in units now numbering in the thousands, the NextGen 5 Class D amplifier is a paragon of extreme power and reliability. With 1,000 watts of output power, plus the ability to simultaneously connect both High Level and .1/LFE with optional state-of-the-art wireless, the 212/SX delivers the goods on a grand scale. It does so with incredible grip and control in the extremely deep bass where most amplifiers loosen up and lose control.
The 212/SX has a sense of almost limitless power, matched with precision. Where others offer brute force, we deliver massive power and every sub-category of performance with effortless ease and versatility. Deafening output in a concert video or blockbuster movie? Check. Beautifully rendered female vocals, precisely positioned inside a stone abbey? Check.
Future-Proof Wireless - Airship Zero-Compression Wireless
We saw the opportunity to develop a new high-resolution, audiophile-grade, uncompressed wireless system for the 212/SX and our newest offerings in the Reference range. Airship™ is a new military-grade 5.8GHz wireless system built into a monolithic LSI chip that delivers incredibly fast bass. We deliver the full bandwidth, not just the bass, through this system which includes (2) channels. The first channel handles our high-level input and can be used for either stereo bass or single channel use with monoblock amplifiers. At the same time, Airship will process the .1/LFE channel needed for special effects in movies, so both RCA and XLR inputs are provided. In the future, we expect more active wireless speakers to hit the market, so we've included low-level stereo inputs. With Airship, you're ready for the future.
