The PH Septima is considered one of Poul Henningsen's finest suspensions. When it was first presented as a prototype at the Danish Museum of Decorative Art (now Designmuseum Danmark) in 1928, it was highly appreciated by the public. Based on PH's three-screen system, the glass crown has four additional screens sandwiched between the three main screens, all seven are produced from delicate yet durable Italian borosilicate glass. The transparent glass screens are treated in such a way as to appear in alternating transparent and frosted fields, furthermore they are positioned in such a way that the frosted fields cover the transparent ones in the underlying part, allowing the screens to diffuse the light in a more diffused way while maintaining a diffusion of light. light directed downwards and without glare. A round glass cup is also positioned in the upper part to prevent dust from falling inside the lamp. In 1931, a PH Septima 4 was launched based on the screen sizes of the PH 4/4, while the PH Septima 5 was based on the screen sizes of the PH 5/5. During the development of the PH Septima, Henningsen also created a metal version that never went into production. His drawings, however, laid the foundations for the development of the PH Artichoke, designed about thirty years later for the Langelinie Pavilion in Copenhagen. In the 1940s, unfortunately, the highly appreciated PH Septima went out of production like many other lamps due to the scarcity of raw materials. In 2020, Louis Poulsen brings back the sophisticated seven-screen glass crown inspired by the PH Septima 5 with optimized suspension and glass for better resistance and stability.
Lighting system p>
The seven-shade glass crown emits glare-free light directed downwards and diffuses a pleasant, delicate brightness. From screen to screen, the frosted glass fields alternately cover the transparent ones, creating an even more delicate diffusion of light.
