Louis Poulsen Collage 450/600 chandelier 45 cm white

The Collage pendant was designed by Louise Campbell and launched in 2005. It was first exhibited at the Copenhagen Furniture Fair in 2004 alongside the Campbell Pendant and 14 other experimental lighting prototypes that proposed new ways of interpreting light. The Campbell Pendant was the first to go into production. The Collage pendant was launched the following year, partly because of the great attention it received at the fair. In her work with lighting, Louise Campbell has always paid particular attention to natural light. With the Collage pendant, her aim was to imitate natural light. Louise Campbell "The most obvious contrast between natural and artificial light is that nature has only one light source that you never look at directly. Our perception of light is based on countless natural layers that filter and reflect light." These observations have been incorporated into the Campbell and Collage pendant luminaires. In the Collage pendant luminaire, the number of layers has been increased and the pattern, light and shadow more closely mimics uncontrollable natural light.

Lighting system

The luminaire emits symmetrical light directed primarily downwards. The patterns on the three laser-cut acrylic shades have been carefully staggered to eliminate glare from the source. The patterns differ between the shades, resulting in different perceptions of light and shadow depending on the viewing angle. By fitting the lower anti-glare shade, a soft, comfortable light can be achieved.

LOUISE CAMPBELL

Louise Campbell was born in Copenhagen in 1970. Her father was Danish and her mother English, and she grew up and studied in both countries. After graduating from the London College of Furniture in 1992, she returned to Denmark to continue her studies in Industrial Design at the Danish School of Design, graduating in 1995. In 1996 she set up her own studio where she continues to work today. Her interests are primarily in furniture and lighting design, but her studio also undertakes interior design projects.
