The Keglen lamp was created by BIG Ideas in collaboration with Louis Poulsen in 2017. The goal was to create a simple, yet unique lamp, focused on geometry and the essence of light. The collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas began with the creation of a suspension for the Tirpitz Museum in Blåvand, a building that BIG Ideas designed for the Varde Museums. The Tirpitz Museum opened its doors in 2017 and the bold galvanized finish of the suspension epitomizes the museum's refined and robust architecture as it blends into the dune landscape of West Jutland. The artistic and technical collaboration between Louis Poulsen and BIG Ideas continued and has now led to the further development of the Keglen family, which with its linear geometry, is suitable for any type of interior. In designing Keglen, the aim was to create a systematic design language that would lead to a wider range of lighting typologies. In other words, Bjarke Ingels, Jakob Lange and the BIG Ideas project team wanted to create a series of lamps of different sizes with the same qualities and design details, but each with its own personality. “The geometric and metallic screens have a soft, organic glass insert that resembles a drop of water. In the table and floor versions, the glass insert meets the stem of the lamp, flowing organically around it like a liquid showing surface tension,” underline Jakob Lange and Bjarke Ingels. The Keglen Tavolo was designed based on the same principle as the Keglen Ø175 suspension. The design is based on the same screen where the stem transforms into the lower diffuser to bend inwards and create an elegant organic geometry. The table lamp is available with base or pivot mounting, ideal for work and study environments. With its truncated cone screen the Keglen Tavolo adds a graphic and simplistic aesthetic creating a perfect atmosphere. The switch and dimmer are located on the base or pin. On the base, the cable exits laterally, while being fed vertically through the pin. The Keglen Tavolo is available in black or white, with a matte liquid-painted finish that creates a play of light and reflections from the surrounding environment during the day when the lamp is turned off.

Lighting system

The distinctive truncated cone screen has an integrated curved diffuser. This ensures an elegant, glare-free downward light. The stem transforms into a diffuser screen that folds inwards and creates an elegant organic geometry. A discreet and uniform opening at the top of the screen emits a delicate light and adds the perfect atmosphere.

This product complies with the requirements contained in the European Directives, RoHS Directive 2011/65 and 2015/863. The product has been designed so that it can be completely disassembled and reused. Louis Poulsen is part of ELRETUR which guarantees the reuse of electronic waste (WEEE) in Europe. This product must be treated as electronic waste. The product is packaged in a fabric bag and a cardboard box. Cardboard is made with at least 75% recycled fiber. The additional cardboard material comes from FSC approved sources.
