Louis Poulsen Ph 3½-2½ table lamp yellow - white

The PH 3 ½-2 ½ table lamp was designed in 1928 and represents one of the major development projects undertaken by PH along with the creation of his world-famous three-shade system. The table lamp is based on PH's original drawings and features the first type of shade container, with adjustable screws. The upper metal shade has a curved end, a stabilizing feature that makes the shade appear thicker than the material. The two lower shades are mouth-blown opal glass. PH found that this combination used the source more efficiently, directing the light downwards due to the reflection of the white inner surface of the upper shade. The frame is made of brown painted brass which gives the lamp the same look as burnished brass lamps, a process which is no longer recommended for environmental reasons.

Lighting system

The louvre is 100% glare-free, with a design based on the principle of a three-reflective screen system, which directs the majority of the light downwards. The underside of the upper screen painted white gently directs the light downwards. The lower blown opal glass screens ensure a glare-free lighting surface, making optimal use of the source to provide functional and comfortable lighting. The opal glass screens are glossy on the outside and opaque on the inside.
