The MKII version of the generous 5-channel RMB-1585 power amplifier, denotes Rotel's desire to always update its products, improving them, without distorting the original project already very effective. The improvements are attributable both to the circuitry and to the choice of the most performing individual components. Following the internal architecture you can see that Rotel has redesigned some signal tracks and optimized the circuitry of the power section. These improvements mean that the amplifier reaches ultra-low distortion values, with high-gain amplification and very high signal isolation, which returns multi-channel audio with precision and extreme clarity.
The RMB-1585MKII is in Class AB, and its motor are two oversized high-current toroidal transformers produced by Rotel, designed to always provide a stable current to a group of 8 high-efficiency storage capacitors. This power stage architecture ensures a more than adequate energy reserve, especially for controlling the low range, even when driving very demanding speakers. To dissipate heat, the RMB-1585MKII is equipped with 4 ultra-silent variable-speed fans controlled by a thermostat.
The Rotel RMB-1585MKII has a special feature: a switch on the rear panel to select the Bi-Amp operating mode. In Bi-Amp mode, channels 1 and 2 and channels 4 and 5 are internally linked to receive the same input signal, thus allowing bi-amplification of the signal. This particular configuration allows the separate driving of the bass and medium/high sections of the connected speakers, resulting in improved dynamics and greater resolution of the speakers themselves. The RMB-1585MKII was created as a Home Theater amplifier and for this reason it must adapt perfectly to any preamplifier/processor connected to it and to any matching speaker system. For this reason it has both balanced XLR and unbalanced RCA inputs, with automatic switching based on the input signal, ensuring full compatibility with any AV processor/preamplifier. Finally, the 12V trigger input and output are useful for automating automatic on/off switching with the pre. For those who want to insert it into a rack, a 19-inch rack mounting kit is available.
