AJ Eklipta was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for the town hall of Rødovre. Two lamps were produced for this project in two different sizes: 350 mm and 450 mm. The luminaires were used in internal staircases and outdoors, as wall lamps. A 220 mm version was later designed for St. Catherine's College in England. In personal staircase installations, Arne Jacobsen always used the larger model. The luminaire is still used around the world today in a variety of architectural contexts.
Lighting system
The luminaire emits a soft, comfortable light. The glass has been designed in such a way as to provide an evenly illuminated surface. The three-layer blown glass has a transparent edge that creates a decorative halo of light around the fixture.
