The NJP series was designed by Oki Sato, founder of the nendo design studio, with the aim of creating a new interpretation of the classic corner lamp – with all its familiar details – in a contemporary design, with functions adapted to modern working life, both in the office and at home. The flexible head and arms of the NJP Wall lamp offer exceptional adjustability, a feature not always found in standard wall lamps. This makes the NJP very suitable for bedrooms, especially where height-adjustable beds make it difficult to position a fixed wall lamp. It features an LED light source, positioned high up on the lamp to avoid glare and discomfort. A refined and practical detail is its “chimney” shaped head that reflects part of the light back, illuminating the upper section of the arm and allowing the heat of the light source to dissipate.

Lighting system

The luminaire provides direct, glare-free horizontal light, while at the same time reflecting part of the light back through the head, illuminating the upper part of the arm. The ergonomic design of the luminaire head shapes the light and gives it optimal directionality. A simple mechanical system ensures great freedom of movement, so that the light is always set in the ideal position in the workspace. The shade is painted white on the inside, which produces a pleasant, diffused reflection of light.

This product complies with the requirements of the European Directives, RoHS Directive 2011/65 and 2015/863. The product has been designed so that it can be completely dismantled and reused. Louis Poulsen is part of ELRETUR which ensures the reuse of electronic waste (WEEE) in Europe. This product must be treated as electronic waste. The product is packed in a fabric bag and a cardboard box. The cardboard is made of at least 75% recycled fiber. The additional cardboard material comes from FSC approved sources.

NENDO - OKI SATO

In 2002, Oki Sato founded the design studio nendo. Nendo means “clay” in Japanese, or more specifically, the modeling of clay such as plasticine. A unique material that makes creative modeling easy.

As Oki Sato explains: “The name is fitting for a studio that has to develop design solutions for a very different set of clients.” Oki Sato doesn’t look at design like many iconic designers, who have focused on the mantra “form follows function.” Behind the product and its design, also look for the story.

Its expression is minimalist, but it contains some signals and some details that bring out memories. It uses soft and pleasant shapes that make its design comfortable at first sight.
