AJ Eklipta was designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1959 for the Rødovre town hall. For this project, two lamps of two different sizes were produced: 350 mm and 450 mm. The luminaires were used in internal staircases and outdoors, as wall lamps. A 220 mm version was later designed for St. Catherine's College in England. In personal installations for stairs, Arne Jacobsen always used the largest model. The fixture is still used around the world today in a variety of architectural contexts.

Lighting system

L The device emits a soft and comfortable light. The glass has been designed in such a way as to offer a uniformly illuminated surface. The three-layer blown glass has a transparent edge that creates a decorative halo of light around the fixture.

Environmental information on the product

This product complies with requirements contained in the European Directives, RoHS Directive 2011/65 and 2015/863. The product has been designed so that it can be completely disassembled and reused. Louis Poulsen is part of ELRETUR which guarantees the reuse of electronic waste (WEEE) in Europe. This product must be treated as electronic waste. The product is packaged in a fabric bag and a cardboard box. Cardboard is made with at least 75% recycled fiber. The additional cardboard material comes from FSC approved sources.

Arne Jacobsen

Arne Jacobsen was born and grew up in Copenhagen. In 1927, he graduated in architecture from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen. After graduating he started working at the City Architect's office in Copenhagen and just two years later started his own business. Arne Jacobsen is a world-famous modernist architect. Many of his buildings are located in Denmark, Germany and the United Kingdom.
