The first stage of Technics' new-generation direct-drive turntable
The tireless pursuit of superior sound quality and Technics' latest innovation, ΔΣ-Drive, represent a turning point. This innovative technology not only eliminates the slightest vibrations from the motor, but also increases the precision of the cartridge's electromagnetic conversion. With the SL-1210GR2, we introduce the first stage of our revolutionary direct-drive turntable system. Immerse yourself in unparalleled audio excellence, because you deserve the best in every sound.
Coreless direct-drive motor for stable rotation
In 1970, Technics revolutionized the turntable industry with the world's first direct-drive system. Unlike conventional belt-drive systems, our direct-drive system minimizes motor-induced vibration, ensuring an exceptional signal-to-noise ratio and long-term reliability without the need for frequent part replacement. However, previous models suffered from cogging due to their iron cores, which affected the smoothness of rotation. The SL-1210GR2 features a single-rotor/single-stator motor without an iron core, eliminating cogging and maximizing smoothness of rotation. Experience superior performance and extended durability with Technics' cutting-edge technology.
New motor drive system, ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive)
Discover a new level of audio precision with ΔΣ-Drive, a cutting-edge system that leverages Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing harmonic frequencies, the new drive system eliminates motor vibration for smoother, more precise rotation, ensuring rich music reproduction.
Multi-Stage Silent Power Supply
Low-Noise Switching Circuit
By employing a high-speed switching power supply, we ensure consistently stable power delivery with minimal ripples and hum. The clever use of a switching power supply in our turntable design not only eliminates the need for a large transformer, but also eliminates the need for additional measures to counteract mechanical vibration. Furthermore, operating at a switching frequency exceeding 100 kHz ensures that any potential noise is contained, preserving the full bandwidth of music reproduction for a superior, uninterrupted listening experience.
Current-Injection Active Noise Cancelling
Our innovative system combines a powerful noise detection device with a precision error amplifier. It not only detects any lingering noise in the power supply, but goes a step further by applying a reverse-phase current to eliminate noise components. The result? A power supply that surpasses the effectiveness of conventional regulators, ensuring an ideal, pristine audio environment free from low-frequency noise.
High Tonearm Sensitivity at Startup - The tonearm tracks the rotation of the record, ensuring high-precision tracking. The Technics tonearm is a conventional S-shaped, static-balanced universal tonearm, constructed with an aluminum tube for lightness and rigidity. Equipped with a gimbal suspension and a high-precision bearing, it achieves an initial motion sensitivity of 5 mg (or less) thanks to manual assembly by skilled craftsmen. This meticulous structure ensures accurate tracking of the record grooves. It also includes a secondary weight, offering greater flexibility when using different cartridges.
Rigid two-layer platter with vibration-damping characteristics - Our advanced platter design ensures superior sound quality by combining a two-layer structure with strategically placed shock-absorbing rubber. This effectively eliminates unnecessary resonances, delivering a clear and immersive audio experience. Through simulator optimization, we've improved the aluminum die-cast part to increase inertial mass and minimize vibration, improving overall performance. The addition of reinforcing ribs on the rear further increases rigidity. Compared to the SL-1200MK5, our turntable boasts more than twice the effective damping characteristics, ensuring an unparalleled listening experience.
High-end components
Two-layer cabinet structure - The SL-1210GR2 Series achieves high rigidity thanks to a body with a two-layer structure that firmly bonds the body molding (BMC) and the aluminum die-cast chassis.
High-quality terminals - The turntable is equipped with gold-plated phono terminals for detachable cables, while the metal shield structure inside the chassis reduces the effects of external noise.
Anti-vibration silicone insulation feet - For the feet that support the cabinet, the SL-1210GR2 uses a special silicone rubber that provides high damping. vibration reduction and long-lasting reliability.
