Thorens TD 124 DD Hi-End Direct Drive Turntable - Black

With the new TD 124 DD, Thorens is reviving one of the most legendary turntables in the brand's history. The original concept of the TD 124 has been significantly improved thanks to the use of modern technologies, and now offers unparalleled playback quality. The original TD 124 was introduced in 1957 and was used for decades in countless broadcast studios around the world. Even the most discerning music lovers soon discovered the precision of this turntable. Even today, a large group of fans remain loyal to the TD 124.

Thorens continues this tradition with the TD 124 DD, completely redesigned and enhanced with innovative technologies. The streamlined design and basic structure are inspired by the original model, while the height-adjustable aluminum chassis now rests on anti-vibration rubber elements. In place of the idler wheel and belt drive system of the previous model, the new TD 124 DD features a high-precision direct drive system. This system delivers high torque, enables precise speed control, and prevents unwanted vibrations from the drive system from reaching the platter.

Thorens TD 124 DD - built for better sound

Another new feature is the TP 124 tonearm. It can be precisely adjusted in all parameters to suit the chosen cartridge and features an innovative anti-skating solution with a ruby bearing, as well as a patented electric lift system for gentle stylus lift.

In addition to the numerous adjustment options, the closed headshell offers great flexibility in cartridge selection. The TD 124 DD also features an additional, slightly heavier counterweight designed for the Thorens SPU TD 124 cartridge, available separately. This specially adapted version of the legendary Ortofon SPU was developed jointly by Thorens and Ortofon for the most discerning vinyl enthusiasts looking for something extraordinary.

Thorens paid attention to every detail in developing the new TD 124 DD to ensure the highest level of sonic performance. A high-quality external power supply ensures interference-free power delivery. In addition to the unbalanced outputs, balanced XLR connectors are also featured, ensuring optimal signal transmission and thus the best possible sound quality when connected to a high-end system with a suitably equipped phono preamplifier.
