VPI has announced the Model One turntable, the first in the new Forever Series.
It is so named in reference to its modularity, which allows the turntable to be updated by changing/replacing components. This will allow it to be upgraded to a Model Two or Three when the new models are actually available. Another advantage is the serviceability, interesting for the compatibility with multiple models, therefore virtually indestructible.
The motor and platter modules are mounted on a thick aluminum plate, with the edges embedded in a layer of damping elastomer to reduce vibrations and make the sound clearer. Both modules can be easily replaced, adjusted and repaired.
VPI Model One also benefits from a new three-point floating suspension, which isolates the subchassis from vibrations, both internal and external, while also minimizing the small amount of noise introduced by the motor.
The Model One's new VPI S-Tonearm Module features a 10" S-shaped tonearm machined from solid aluminum to protect the tonearm tube from unwanted resonances. The tonearm base includes VTA adjustment, while azimuth adjustment is accessible from the EJA-mount headshell.
The gimbal joint uses ABEC 5 ball bearings, which provide ultra-low friction, extending their life and helping to eliminate vibration.
Finally, the internal wiring uses high-purity (99.9999%) copper wire that connects the headshell directly to the RCA output terminals.
The belt that transmits motion to the platter is paired with a motor that operates at 500 rpm, also equipped with a 33/45 dual-speed Delrin pulley for precise control.
The platter is paired with an inverted bearing that minimizes friction. contact surface, thus reducing friction and making the movement smoother. The aesthetics maintain the distinctive features of the house, characterized by the classic black ash veneer.
The turntable includes a transparent dust cover to protect the platter.
