Buy an HT/1003 MKII if you don't have the space or need the extra output of our larger models. It's simple. More compact, just as beautiful, and offers the same build quality as its siblings. Its styling makes it an ideal partner in REL's T/x Series HT/3D cinema setups.
The all-new 300W Class D amplifier delivers increased headroom and powers a new 10" (250mm) CarbonGlas™ driver. This combination delivers devastating output, playing TWICE the volume of the original. At this price, this performance is unheard of. The icing on the cake is that, like all new HTs, it responds beautifully when playing music, and HT-Air offers state-of-the-art wireless (optional).

When Your Heart Says HT/1205 - but your wallet or your room says no
Perhaps the most dramatic upgrade in the entire HT range is provided by the remarkable HT/1003 MKII. In the theater, nothing impresses like raw output, even if you don't use it all. The HT/1003 MKII's increased usable headroom brings an ease to the sound that lesser designs can't compete with. Here, we realize 10 dB higher output (twice the volume) than its predecessor. As with its bigger siblings, the HT/1003 MKII receives the full suite of MKII upgrades. First, a higher secondary filter allows energy to extend further into the sound spectrum, meaning explosions are wilder than ever. Then, an all-analog PerfectFilter™ lifts and extends the deepest bass. Additionally, an analog subsonic filter filters out damaging signals below 20 Hz. All This is packaged in the same sexy, serious look that blends perfectly with our T/x and S Series for use in HT-3D systems. Plus, improvements to the driver, amplifier, and filters have ensured this latest version becomes a truly musical subwoofer.
Designer Wear
The sexy new enclosure is custom-made, with new textures, proportions, and finishes never before seen in the category. The shallower, sleeker enclosure borrows proportions from our new Reference models. Through experimentation over the years, we've found that this translates into a faster, deeper bass presentation, all while looking spectacular. The eye is immediately drawn to the top panel, which is finished with 5 layers of hand-rubbed piano black lacquer. A discreet REL logo floats within the top layer of lacquer, while the body of the enclosure is clad in horizontally grained composite. The whole thing looks expensive, tailored, and tasteful. Plus, it can be combined with T/x or S Series in Fully immersive large REL HT/3D™ configurations.*
Drive like you mean it
The HT/1003 MKII's driver remains a 10" (250mm) CarbonGlas™ structure to keep its overall dimensions reasonable in its role as a powerhouse for slightly more modest spaces. Every component has been strengthened, improved in ways both large and small to deliver the highest possible performance. Lightweight, rigid, and quiet, the combination of fiberglass primary cones with true carbon fiber hubcaps results in an affordable yet pistonic cone. Larger, more powerful magnets produce greater energy. Improved suspension designs with widened surrounds to allow for more travel mean output remains under control right up to the limits of the amplifier and driver. The result is prodigious output for this price range while remaining fast and smooth, like all RELs.
Amplified Excellence
Amplifiers do the dirty work and heavy lifting in a theater subwoofer. We turned to a true top-tier amplifier supplier to realize our latest project; they did not disappoint. They created thicker boards and improved power supplies, all of which, while not sexy, result in a brutally powerful 300W amplifier (did you know all RELs are specified as Continuous RMS, just like a big, expensive 300W monoblock amplifier?) with remarkable longevity. It generates truly impressive sound. While its theater applications get all the headlines, its big secret is that it sounds sublime in music applications. Big and robust, the HT/1003 MKII is sure to become an instant classic.
PerfectFilters™: Where Perfection Begins
REL input filters are renowned throughout the audio world. They bring together ultra-fast analog crossovers, customer-designed lift filters that extend the flatness of deep bass, and integrated limiters that allow all the power to explode outward. This compact set of analog circuits is REL's secret sauce in both music and movie sound. Refined in this second generation, the sub-filters used now allow extension to a much higher frequency, making the thinning of the air in the sound of an explosion sound much more realistic. Additionally, our latest circuitry includes an all-analog subsonic filter that starts as low as 12 Hz to minimize the effects of soundtrack infra-noise that extends well below the driver's resonance point. The result is incredible power delivery with the ability to play at the driver's limits without distortion.
Wired for Sound: HT-Air
Being wired for sound used to require long runs of cable strewn across the floor. With our optional HT-Air™, fantastic sound can be "unplugged," replaced by a small transmitter and matching receiver that sends an incredibly fast 5.8 GHz wireless signal up to 60 feet without digital compression. This affordable circuitry includes the same LSIC chip that powers our cutting-edge AirShip II, without the expensive discrete analog-to-digital and digital-to-analog converters (DACs). It's perfect for .1/LFE signals using RCA connectors, which is the primary mission of the HT/1205 MKII.
