The Above pendant lamp by Danish designer Mads Odgård represents an openly simplistic lighting design. Odgård is strictly minimalist and creates transparent products, where function is considered at the same level as form and quality. “I designed a lamp that represents my mantra: how dare you with simplicity in design? I prefer to remove rather than add and always try to do things as simply as possible,” says Mads Odgård. The silhouette of the lamp represents a graphic triangle that creates a pleasant light, directed downwards. The arch-shaped opening at the top, from which the name “Above” derives, not only reveals the cable, but allows the light to diffuse upwards, creating a warm and controlled environment.
Lighting system
The device emits a soft and comfortable light, directed downwards. The truncated cone shape and the satin internal part painted white help to guarantee a homogeneous distribution of light. The opening in the upper part of the luminaire provides decorative lighting of the upper arch and ensures that the luminaire retains maximum aesthetic expression, both with the light on and off.
