The AJ Oxford table lamp has an elegant graphic expression that reflects the architecture of St Catherine's College, Oxford, for which it was originally designed. St Catherine's College, opened in 1963, was designed by Arne Jacobsen in a modernist style, which contrasts with the surrounding classical architecture of Oxford University. The AJ Oxford table lamp was initially designed as a pivot table lamp for the college's impressive dining hall that housed long rows of oak tables, seating 350. Table lamps serve as centerpieces on the tables, while natural light comes from skylights and the wall-mounted AJ Eklipta provides diffused general lighting. The lamp is located at St Catherine's College which today is still open for teaching and as a student residence. The AJ Oxford lamp has a thin stem, similar to those in the AJ lamp collection that blends seamlessly into the circular base. With its graphic style and monochromatic color palette, the AJ Oxford table lamp is a timeless addition to any home. The table lamp is available in some variants, with or without an upper metal screen and in two different heights, the smaller one is ideal for small spaces and fits perfectly on a shelf or windowsill. Furthermore, the taller version is also available as a pivoting table lamp, as a testament to Arne Jacobsen's original design.

DESIGN DETAILS
When you look at the AJ Oxford up close, even the smallest details become noticeable. For example, the brass screw that holds the shade in place and the elegance with which the cable is channeled into the lamp stem.
Lighting system
This table lamp diffuses a pleasant downward light that harmoniously illuminates the surface below through the soft transparency of the mouth-blown three-layer opaline glass. In the variant without the upper metal screen, the milky opal glass screen provides additional brightness and forms an attractive halo around the luminaire.
