Vpi MW-1 Cyclone Automatic Record Cleaning Machine

The MW-1 Cyclone was meant to pay homage to the HW-16.5 that started VPI and honor the passing of the torch from Harry to Mat Weisfeld.

The MW-1 Cyclone is the first and only record cleaning machine (that we know of) that sucks dirt from the record in both a clockwise and counterclockwise direction to really clean the grooves. This motor is a high-torque 18 RPM forward and reverse turntable motor. The MW-1 is housed in a waterproof aluminum case with a welded stainless steel water tank that drains out the back. The bi-directional turntable motor allows for scrubbing and vacuuming in both directions for the ultimate deep clean. Professional quality toggle switches rated for 100,000 cycles.

The turntable motor is designed to last decades and is inspired by the original HW 16 that is still going strong 30 years later. The vacuum motor is so powerful that it has been rated to lift 120 inches of mercury and pull the gunk out of your records. All components are heavy-duty industrial grade and include a 2-inch Delrin record clamp. Plus, the MW-1 Cyclone is quieter than the HW-16.5 and more durable with its aluminum enclosure. For good measure, we took the final model and ran it down a flight of stairs. That model is currently cleaning records in our listening room and can clean your record in less than 30 seconds! That said, rolling down the stairs did a number on the paint job!
