The VPI JMW-9 3D tonearm is the world's first tonearm created with a 3D printer and it is the first time that the dream of creating an arm made of a single body from the shell to the counterweight hub, without joining parts and different materials, a true and only one body with all the advantages in terms of resonance reduction that this entails, has been realized. The 3D tonearm is in fact made of an incredibly light, rigid and self-damping epoxy plastic. Among the other advantages that can be obtained with this arm there is a greater presence of detail, a wider soundstage, excellent musicality and as mentioned before a low resonance at the base of everything. This process takes more than 24 hours to print but the result is assured and this new 3D design by VPI will have a huge impact on the sound quality. It can only be adapted to the VPI Prime Scout and Scout turntables and this upgrade is highly recommended. If you own more than one cartridge and a Scout turntable, you can get an extra arm tube and enjoy the benefits of multiple cartridges in a simple way, just remove the old arm and replace it with the new one.
