Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuit (DIDRC) - With patented DIDRC (Dynamic Intermodulation Distortion Reduction Circuitry) technology, the Onkyo P-80 preamplifier delivers vivid yet smooth and enjoyable sound from any music source. DIDRC is a discrete signal control circuit developed to make digital sound sources, such as CDs and music streaming services, sound as natural as analog records. This technology has been further refined and is used in the analog filter of the P-80's DAC and phono preamplifier.
Central for distortion-free sound - With a fanless design that eliminates noise, a high-quality stereo DAC (32-bit/768 kHz) that reduces distortion, and an extruded aluminum heat sink for vibration suppression, this preamplifier lays a solid foundation for superior sound.
Rigidity for seismic resistance - The P-80's cabinet is composed of two aluminum side panels and a steel top panel. This three-piece structure increases rigidity and improves vibration resistance. The "oval chassis" with oval molding lines reinforces the bottom surface and disperses vibrations, improving overall sound quality.
Further reduction of distortion - High-fidelity terminals, quality capacitors, and rigid front panels further reduce vibrations and signal degradation. The P-80 features a phono circuit that is independent of the other circuits. The P-80 is compatible with both MM and MC cartridges. The MC circuit is designed with discrete components and faithfully reproduces the output signal of a small MC cartridge without distortion.
Two Subwoofer Outputs - The P-80 preamplifier features two independent subwoofer outputs that provide enough power to fully reproduce the lowest frequencies in your music.
Plug in your gear, connect to your music - Connect your turntable via cable, hook up your CD player, and stream your tunes with ease thanks to the P-80 preamplifier's numerous connectivity options. With 3 pairs of analog RCA inputs, MM/MC phono inputs, coaxial, optical, USB-A (for audio file playback), and a headphone jack, you have all the flexibility you need to make your music devices vibrate.
Music Streaming Compatible - Your carefully selected playlists work seamlessly with the Onkyo P-80 preamplifier. Connect via cable or stream your content from any of the following integrated platforms: Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Qobuz Connect, Amazon Music, Qplay, TuneIn, AirPlay 2 compatible, Chromecast, and Roon Ready.
Controllable via Onkyo Controller - The P-80 is compatible with Onkyo Controller, Onkyo's mobile app. Various settings and content can be configured directly from the listening position.
Dirac Live to correct your room's acoustic flaws - Onkyo makes world-class products for pioneers and technology enthusiasts. It's what sets us apart, and the P-80 preamplifier is no exception. That's why it features the built-in Dirac Live Room Correction Suite Stereo. With frequency response correction (Limited: 20-500 Hz / Licensed, Full Version: Full bandwidth / License purchase required), multiple playback modes and more, this highly appreciated feature will enhance your listening experience taking into account your system and room setup. The P-80 also supports Dirac Live Bass Control (an optional upgrade) with two independent subwoofer outputs for maximum impact.

Onkyo Academy: The benefits of a preamplifier
A preamplifier receives the input signal from the device (music source) and applies tone controls to that signal. You have greater control over audio playback in terms of bass, treble, volume and more. When Fidelity IQ (Auto Loudness function) is activated, the system automatically optimizes audio playback based on the set volume, in combination with the master volume. (This function operates independently of the tone control and can be used in combination with it. The parameters are generated for the listening environment using the setup microphone during the initial setup.) But the Auto Loudness function goes beyond simple Volume Correction. Onkyo sound engineers fine-tune the frequency response to deliver the most emotionally satisfying sound possible, regardless of the music genre. Select the source, adjust the settings to your liking (which may vary depending on the speakers used, the type of audio being played, the music genre, etc.), and customize the experience accordingly.
