The MB3.5 B is a slim floorstanding speaker with two 5.25" carbon cone drivers, a sealed ribbon tweeter, and two 6.5" woofers. The MB3.5 B functions as a 3-way speaker, in which the two midrange-woofers are supported by two 6.5" aluminum-cone woofers. The two carbon midrange-woofers are connected in series for increased power handling.

The cabinet of the MB3.5 B is heavy, braced and curved, with carbon fiber inserts. The crossover is set at 2600 Hz and the two additional side woofers support frequencies up to 150 Hz.

The MB Series features a high-quality crossover with first-class components. The filter has been carefully designed to linearize the frequency region where the cone and cabinet geometry plays an important role, and to precisely tune the speaker to a natural-sounding frequency response.

Fabric grilles can be supplied as an additional accessory upon request.

Ribbon Tweeter: absolute speed and naturalness without Compromises

The absolute protagonist of the high range is the famous Ribbon Tweeter developed by Scansonic HD.

Unlike a traditional dome tweeter, the ribbon diaphragm has an extremely low mass that allows it to accelerate and stop almost instantaneously. This behavior drastically improves the reproduction of transients, upper harmonics and all those micro details that make a high-quality recording credible.

The extension up to 40 kHz also allows for extremely uniform dispersion, helping to create a very wide and airy soundstage. Voices take on greater realism, string instruments sound more material, while cymbals, percussion and reverberations are reproduced with a naturalness that is difficult to achieve with traditional tweeters.

During long listening sessions, the Ribbon Tweeter maintains a refined, never aggressive timbre, restoring every detail without tiring the listener.

Cabinet - The internal construction features optimized airflow, which, combined with the minimal use of sound-absorbing material, has resulted in very dynamic and linear low-frequency reproduction.

The bass reflex cabinet is optimized for excellent impulse response, resulting in linear, dynamic, and detailed low-frequency reproduction, while making the speaker extremely easy and versatile to place in the room.

Speakers - The woofer and mid-frequency driver have been equipped with a low-loss suspension, which significantly improves dynamic capabilities and expands the frequency response in the bass region. A pleasant side effect is the significantly reduced break-in period (approximately 100 hours).

Crossover - The crossovers are designed for a very linear and natural sound, clearly audible throughout the range. The crossover is engineered to time-align all the drivers at the listening distance.
