OVERVIEW

The Summit Ama is a standmount loudspeaker designed for the most discerning music enthusiast. It features a new driver configuration, starting with the patented 1.5-inch (38 mm) JBL D2815K dual-motor, dual-diaphragm compression driver paired with a large-format Sonoglass® High-Definition Imaging (HDI™) horn. Forming the Summit Ama's sonic foundation is an 8-inch (200 mm) cast-frame woofer using a triple-layer carbon-cellulose hybrid composite (HC4) cone, a design made with a proprietary formula of carbon fiber and pure cellulose front and back surfaces, with a closed-cell foam inner core. This hybrid cone design provides the proper rigidity, overall mass, and structure to ensure high output, low distortion, and high power handling.

Controlling signal distribution to each speaker in the Summit Ama is a MultiCap™ crossover with single-cable and bi-amp/bi-wire connectivity. By replacing traditional large capacitors with a greater number of smaller ones, this design results in lower ESR (electrostatic resistance) and less energy loss due to mechanical movement. This translates into greater signal transmission to the drivers, increased power handling, improved dynamics, ultra-low distortion, and exceptional clarity.

All drivers and crossover components are housed in a beautifully engineered cabinet, featuring a curved-wall structure with multiple bracing and damping, staggered internally to minimize internal standing waves. Cabinets are available in a gloss black finish with Summit Platinum accents or a gloss ebony veneer finish with Summit Gold accents. Securely anchoring the Summit Ama to the floor is a matching steel and aluminum double-leg stand, complete with a set of custom-designed JBL | IsoAcoustics® isolation feet that resist vibrational forces caused by the speaker's drivers, effectively decoupling it from the surface on which it rests. This isolation delivers more accurate bass, an improved soundstage, and imaging with greater clarity and spaciousness.

Ama (a-ma)

From the full name Ama Dablam, meaning "Mother's Necklace", and reaches an altitude of 6,812 m (22,349 ft). Ama dominates the eastern horizon from Everest Base Camp and has been called the “Matterhorn of the Himalayas” for its imposing, iconic shape.

The cabinets are available in a gloss black finish with Summit platinum accents or a gloss ebony veneer finish with Summit gold accents.

The included, mass-damped floor stand, anchored firmly to the ground, features custom-designed JBL | IsoAcoustics® isolation feet that counteract vibrations generated by the drivers, effectively decoupling the speaker from the surface on which it rests. This isolation delivers tighter bass, an improved soundstage, and stereo imaging with greater clarity and spaciousness.
