The NJP series was designed by Oki Sato, founder of the nendo design studio, with the aim of creating a new interpretation of the classic corner lamp - with all its familiar details - in a contemporary design, with functions adapted to the modern working life, both in the office and at home. The head and flexible arms of the NJP floor lamp offer exceptional adjustability, a feature not always present in standard floor lamps. Since the flexible design allows you to easily adjust the lamp for optimal illumination, the NJP is particularly suitable for use as a reading lamp, placed next to an armchair or sofa. It is equipped with an LED light source, positioned high on the lamp to avoid glaring and unpleasant lighting. A refined and practical detail is its "chimney" shaped head which reflects part of the light to the back, illuminating the upper section of the arm and allowing the heat of the light source to dissipate.

System of lighting

The luminaire provides direct horizontal glare-free light, while at the same time reflecting part of the light via the back of the head, illuminating the upper part of the arm. The ergonomic design of the luminaire head gives shape to the light and gives it optimal direction. A simple mechanical system ensures great freedom of movement, so that the light is always set in the ideal position in the workspace. The lampshade is painted white on the inside, and produces a diffused and pleasant reflection of light.

NENDO - OKI SATO

In 2002 Oki Sato founded the design studio nendo. Nendo means “clay” in Japanese, or more specifically, modeling clay like plasticine. An exclusive material that makes creative modeling easy.

As Oki Sato explains: “The name is suitable for a studio that needs to develop design solutions for a very different set of clients ”. Oki Sato does not look at design like many iconic designers, who focused on the mantra “form follows function”. Behind the product and its design, it also looks for history.

Its expression is minimalist, but contains some signals and some details that bring out memories. It uses soft and pleasant shapes that make its design comfortable at first sight.
