Louis Poulsen Ph 80 Floor lamp 55 cm white

The Italian-Danish design duo GamFratesi created the Yuh for Louis Poulsen in 2017. Initially launched in black and white, the family has expanded with brass and marble versions. Yuh is an essentially personal lamp. It is flexible and takes up little space. It can be rotated, raised and lowered to illuminate and create the right atmosphere in the desired area. The shape of the screen is geometrically determined by the movement it performs on the stem. The minimalist look is created by a circular shape at the bottom to the linear opening at the top of the screen. The name Yuh is the phonetic form of "you", the letters represent the sound of the voice to say "you".

Lighting system

The luminaire emits light mainly downwards without direct glare. The screen angle can be adjusted to optimize light distribution. The thin opening at the top of the screen diffuses a soft light upwards. A mechanical system allows maximum freedom of movement and ideal positioning of light in the work environment, living room and other spaces. The integrated LED technology offers a high quality of light, with continuous reduction control from 15 to 100%. It also has a programmed timer that allows automatic shutdown within a time range of 4 to 8 hours and a function to set the constant lighting level every time the lamp is connected to the main power supply. In the upper part of the stem there is a single button with the dual function of switch and dimmer.

GamFratesi's design draws its creativity from a fusion of tradition and innovation in an experimental approach towards the chosen materials and techniques. Each with their own experience, Stine Gam and Enrico Fratesi draw from classic Danish furniture style and craftsmanship, as well as an Italian conceptual and intellectual approach.

Understanding tradition and actively addressing it to laboratory activities allows its expansion. From this substratum of cultural mixes they create a design that respectfully reflects tradition by inserting exclusive stories, symbols and associations expressed in a minimalist way. GamFratesi was founded in 2006 by Danish architect Stine Gam and Italian architect Enrico Fratesi. They met at the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ferrara in northern Italy in 2004 and have since studied together at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark. The GamFratesi studio is located in Copenhagen.
