The Enigma 545, designed by Japanese designer Shoichi Uchiyama in 2007, extends the Enigma product family. The Enigma 545 is a larger version of the Enigma 425, based on a design of floating screens supported by ultra-thin wires for a transparent and light expression. The name enigma stands for “mystery” and refers to the screens that appear to float when lit and viewed from a distance. The design was in keeping with Louis Poulsen’s product philosophy and was also a new interpretation of the multi-screen system, combining Japanese elegance with Scandinavian simplicity. In 2018, the original aluminum lamp was joined by the new black edition, which expands the decorative possibilities of the design and creates a serene and atmospheric visual effect, while the light is shaped and channeled.
Lighting system
The luminaire emits glare-free, soft and comfortable light directed downwards. The shade design ensures uniform illumination of the surface. The matt upper surface diffuses the light, while the glossy lower surface ensures optimal reflection.
