RETHINKING THE CHANDELIER

With Patera, Øivind Slaatto wanted to reinvent the classic chandelier, creating a surprising play of light and shadow. The eye-catching design has become an icon.

THE PERFECT ANGLE

A mathematical work of art, Patera is made up of several cells, each of which is expressly formed by right angles for a characteristic interplay between light and shadow.

Handcrafted by specialized personnel, Patera is an example of precise craftsmanship that guarantees high quality every time.

Lighting system

The spherical suspension diffuses glare-free light reflected by the small diamond-shaped cells that make up the fixture. The structure of the lamp ensures that the light is glare-free above 45 degrees, while allowing the fixture to emit direct light downwards, brightness upwards, illuminating the ceiling and giving additional atmosphere to the surrounding environment. The design of each cell shapes the light creating soft transitions between direct and reflected light to emphasize the luminous sphere of the suspension.

Product environmental information

This product complies with the requirements contained in the European Directives, RoHS Directive 2011/65 and 2015/863. The product has been designed so that it can be completely dismantled and reused. Louis Poulsen is part of ELRETUR which ensures the reuse of electronic waste (WEEE) in Europe. This product must be treated as electronic waste. The product is packed in a fabric bag and a cardboard box. The cardboard is made from at least 75% recycled fibre. The additional cardboard material comes from FSC approved sources.

ØIVIND SLAATTO

Øivind Slaatto (born 1978) is a promising Danish designer, known for his simple and poetic solutions. Nature is his main source of inspiration. He also tries to bring characteristics such as rationality, logic and harmony into his designs. Slaatto graduated from the Danish School of Design, a title he obtained after studying music at the Royal Danish Academy of Music. His passion for music permeates his approach to design.
