One of the most compact on-wall speakers in MartinLogan history, the MW4-LCR expertly blends high performance with maximum flexibility. The MW4-LCR is a true “Left, Center, Right” speaker that can be used as a front, surround, or center channel anywhere high-quality sound and a small footprint are desired.

All MartinLogan Motion CI Series speakers feature our exclusive Folded Motion Tweeter, or FMT. This innovative piece of audio technology delivers incredible detail, precise clarity, clean output, and high efficiency in a small but powerful package. Pairing this tweeter with lightweight woven fiberglass woofers means the Motion CI delivers clean, balanced sound that is perfectly suited to any application. Whether you listen to music, movies, or a little bit of everything, the Motion CI gives you a true high-end audio experience at an affordable price. To round out the lineup, pre-built brackets are available for all models, and all in-ceiling models have square grilles and retrofittable back enclosures available separately.

The Sound of Invisibility: Folded Motion ® Tweeter

MartinLogan's Folded Motion tweeter utilizes an extremely low-mass diaphragm that “squeezes” air, requiring significantly less excursion than the typical 1-inch dome tweeter. Its folded design allows for a much larger surface area (compared to a typical 1-inch dome tweeter), controlled dispersion characteristics, and incredibly low distortion. It's a marvel of audio engineering, delivering much of the high-frequency detail, speed, and response of a large dynamic electrostatic panel in a smaller space.

This thin-film transducer design packs all the precision and delicacy of an electrostatic panel into a smaller space. Folding the incredibly lightweight film into an accordion-like structure increases surface area, giving Folded Motion tweeters eight to ten times more surface area than typical tweeters. This ideal combination of lightness and size results in superior accuracy, extended frequency bandwidth, and increased output capacity; all with faster, more efficient transient response and virtually zero distortion. In these ways, the Folded Motion tweeter design can mimic the performance of a large electrostatic panel within the constraints of a more traditional speaker enclosure.

Spring Binding Posts

Featuring easy pre-installation access, our spring binding posts feature a large access hole for 4.5mm wire and connect via banana plug, pin or bare 12AWG wire.

Micro-Perforated Grilles

The MW4-LCR features ultra-low-profile, paintable, micro-perforated grilles with no visible bezel for a virtually invisible integration into any wall or ceiling. An array of powerful magnets hidden inside the speaker quickly secure the grilles in place, reducing the risk of warping or damage during installation.

Hand-Selected Components

In designing each crossover topology, we take the drivers themselves into consideration. Carefully selected drivers, designed for specific performance characteristics, are held within their optimal frequency range by the custom Vojtko crossover.

Each crossover is handcrafted using exceptional polypropylene and polyester capacitors, custom-wound, oversized steel-laminated low-DCR inductors, and double-thickness PCBs. This precisely tuned network preserves even the most microscopic sonic nuances while handling the full dynamics of any source. It's a recipe for incredibly low distortion and seamless driver integration.
