BL Conceal C83, 8-inch (200mm) 3-Element Fully Concealed In-Wall Loudspeaker
The JBL Conceal C83 invisible loudspeaker is a high-performance 3-way design built around a patented compression-molded baffle and a paintable Fidelity Glass™ outer skin. The finished speaker panel easily installs and completely disappears into the surrounding walls or ceiling, allowing for optimal placement virtually anywhere in a home. The JBL Conceal Series is the ultimate solution for high-performance architectural audio.
The JBL Conceal C83 Series is a high-performance invisible architectural loudspeaker that features a single-panel design with premium acoustic performance. The C83 panel comprises a rigid frame that houses the drivers and acoustic components that would be found on a conventional visible in-wall or in-ceiling architectural loudspeaker. The frame attaches directly to the structural framing of the wall, while the face of the speaker - the FidelityGlass™ panel - features a smooth, durable surface that is designed to be finished similarly to the surrounding drywall. With the edges of the speaker flush with the drywall, the seams are taped and filled using common methods and techniques. Once sanded and properly prepared, simply paint or wallpaper the speaker surface to match the desired finish.
The C83 contains two drive elements that work in tandem with the FidelityGlass™ acoustic panel to deliver the high- and mid-frequency component of the sound. The panel also uses an 8-inch low-frequency driver that works in tandem with the FidelityGlass panel to deliver impressive bass performance. This combination of patented drivers and technologies results in high-performance sound typically found only in large, conventional in-wall speakers.
The foundation of the C83 panel is a compression-molded baffle that provides a rigid frame for the entire assembly. The FidelityGlass acoustic panel is attached to the frame and serves as a diaphragm for the transducers. Inside the panel, a neodymium mid-range driver and a neodymium high-frequency driver work in harmony with the custom materials and tuning of the FidelityGlass panel to deliver pristine detail and accurate sound. To balance the C83 system, an 8-inch (200 mm) high-power woofer working in conjunction with the FidelityGlass panel and a tuned enclosure delivers solid bass performance that rivals traditional over-the-counter solutions. The advanced crossover network draws on JBL's industry-leading acoustic expertise and includes self-restoring protection circuitry for the C83 system, ensuring maximum long-term reliability. The integrated wood backbox helps focus sound in the room and minimize acoustic intrusion into adjacent spaces.
Installing the Conceal invisible speaker is accomplished just as you would install a standard drywall patch. For new construction, a wooden marker is available to mark the location as the drywall is being installed. Detailed instructions are available to ensure proper installation. After installing and double-checking the panel's fit to the drywall, it is critical to test the speakers for proper operation with an amplified sound source prior to drywall taping and finishing steps.
The complete invisibility of the Conceal Series products, combined with their wide hemispherical acoustic coverage pattern, allows for optimal placement virtually anywhere in a room, whether on a wall or ceiling. The finished aesthetic benefits far exceed those of a traditional in-wall or in-ceiling speaker resulting in a new level of performance. The JBL Conceal Series is the ultimate solution for high-performance architectural audio.
