In 2022, the prestigious Japanese design studio Nendo, led by founder Oki Sato, and Louis Poulsen presented the NJP Mini. Nendo designed the first NJP lamp series for Louis Poulsen in 2015. The NJP Mini makes the NJP family of luminaires even more versatile. Compared to the NJP Tavolo, a modernist take on the classic architect's lamp with the flexibility of two joints on the large arm, the NJP Mini is a smaller-scale version. The distinctive opening of the rear shade towards the arm allows for continuous adjustment of the organic head and, together with its unique rotation of the arm that can rotate 342° around the base, offers the freedom to direct the light where needed. Its relatively small dimensions make it perfect for use anywhere, as it creates small islands of comfortable light not only in the bedroom, living space and home office, but also in bars, hotel rooms, offices, lounge areas and so on. The NJP Mini is the smallest size of the NJP series so far, which includes the table lamp, the floor lamp and the two wall lamps, characterised by their modern and attractive NJP design that places the human being at the centre. The NJP Mini creates a relaxing “drop of light” and is ideal for a windowsill, a larger bookcase, a dresser, a bedside table or a desk. The new addition to the NJP family is designed in a new warm palette of four colours, rosy brown, soft pink, petrol blue or taupe, in addition to the other three classic colours, black, white and light aluminium grey. All seven colours add a timeless touch to the contemporary design created for contemplation and subtle interaction that complements most interiors.
Lighting system
The fixture emits a soft, diffused light directed downwards, without glare. When switched on, it dims to a fixed light level and dims when switched off, and it also has a timer function for automatic switch-off after four or eight hours. The fixture offers a wide distribution of light for its relatively small size, and the white painted inside of the shade helps to reflect the light comfortably. The stepless dimmer allows you to adjust the light to a comfortable level between 15 and 100%. The arm has a stationary angle of 15° and can rotate 342° around the base, while the head can tilt and rotate to direct the light distribution.

NENDO - OKI SATO
In 2002, Oki Sato founded the design studio nendo. Nendo means “clay” in Japanese, or more specifically, the modeling of clay such as plasticine. A unique material that makes creative modeling easy.
As Oki Sato explains: “The name is fitting for a studio that has to develop design solutions for a very diverse set of clients.” Oki Sato does not look at design like many iconic designers, who have focused on the mantra “form follows function.” Behind the product and its design, he also looks for the story.
His expression is minimalist, but contains some signals and details that bring out memories. He uses soft and pleasant shapes that make his design comfortable at first glance.
