The Thorens TD 1601 with TP 160 tonearm combines the legendary suspended subchassis design with precision tonearm engineering and a high level of usability. The decoupled spring-suspension chassis, the precise TP 160 tonearm, and the balanced outputs ensure exceptionally accurate musical reproduction.

The TD 1601 with TP 160 continues the tradition of one of Thorens' most iconic turntable series. Based on the proven suspended subchassis design, it combines classic Thorens engineering with modern technology and a high level of usability. The subchassis, suspended on three conical springs, effectively isolates the tonearm and platter from external influences, creating the ideal conditions for precise and authentic vinyl reproduction.

Completing the sophisticated design of the TD 1601 is the TP 160 tonearm, developed by renowned designer Helmut Thiele. This 9-inch J-shaped tonearm with SME-type cartridge connector draws inspiration from classic studio tonearms, while offering a high degree of flexibility in cartridge selection. Its ultra-precise blade bearing ensures exceptionally accurate and controlled record groove tracking. To further enhance tracking precision, the horizontal blade bearing is additionally stabilized by magnets.

The electronically controlled belt drive ensures smooth and consistent operation. The external TPN 1600 power supply, featuring a powerful toroidal transformer, supplies the synchronous motor with 2 x 16 volts. Together with the heavy aluminum platter, this configuration forms the basis for stable and precise speed and detailed, dynamic musical reproduction.

In addition to audiophile performance, the TD 1601 also offers excellent everyday usability. The contactless automatic lift function raises the tonearm at the end of the record without interrupting the signal path. The balanced XLR outputs also ensure particularly quiet signal transmission.

When used with a moving coil (MC) cartridge, the True Balanced Connection allows the full potential of balanced signal transmission to be exploited.
