Coreless Direct Drive Motor for Stable Rotation
In the SL-1300G, the use of a direct-drive motor without an iron core eliminates the uneven rotation of the turntable, known as cogging. Furthermore, the double-rotor structure reduces the load on the bearings while maintaining high torque and also reduces minute vibrations during rotation. Furthermore, the motor in the SL-1300G has been redesigned to eliminate subtle vibrations that could affect audio quality. To improve rigidity, the same reinforcement pattern as the reference-class SL-1000R/SP-10R has been used for the voice coil mounting base.
Motor Drive System, ΔΣ-Drive (Delta Sigma Drive)
Discover a new level of audio precision with ΔΣ-Drive, a cutting-edge system that leverages Technics' expertise in PWM signal processing. In addition to reducing harmonic frequencies, the drive system eliminates motor vibrations for smoother and more precise rotation, ensuring rich music reproduction.
Vibration-resistant design
Three-layer turntable platter - The turntable features a three-layer structure, with a highly rigid brass and aluminum die-cast platter. The rear is completely covered with a rubber shock-absorbing layer to eliminate unnecessary resonance, dampening vibrations and ensuring a high level of rigidity. This achieves uniform rotation stability and an inertial mass that is higher than that of the SP-10MK2, the direct-drive turntable standardized by broadcasters around the world, and more than double that of the SL-1200MK5.
Double-skin cabinet structure - The SL-1300G Series achieves high rigidity by using a two-layer body structure that firmly bonds the BMC (Burgundy Metal Molding) shell and the aluminum die-cast chassis. Reinforcing ribs have been added between the motor and tonearm on the top panel. This improves rigidity and vibration-damping characteristics.
Precision balance - When the weight distribution of the turntable is uneven, excessive vibration and noise occur during rotation, causing a decline in sound quality. Accordingly, the turntable's balance is factory-adjusted using a high-precision adjustment tool specifically for each component after the turntable is assembled. Adjusted turntables are labeled with a "BALANCED" sticker to indicate that the adjustment has been performed.
Multi-Stage Silent Power Supply
Low-Noise Switching Circuit - The use of a high-speed switching power supply ensures stable power supply capacity and reduces ripples and hum. Applying a switching power supply to a turntable eliminates the need for a large transformer and the countermeasures for the resulting mechanical vibrations. A switching frequency above 100 kHz limits the impact of noise on the bandwidth of music reproduction.
Current-Injection Active Noise Cancelling - This technology combines a noise detection device with an error amplifier. It detects residual noise in the power supply and applies a reverse-phase current to remove the noise components. It removes low-frequency noise more effectively than a regulator to optimize the power supply.
Tonearm Achieves High Start-Up Sensitivity - The tonearm, a key component for accurate reading, tracks the rotation of the record. The tonearm, inherited from Technics, uses a lightweight and rigid aluminum tube in the traditional universal S-shape with static balance. Equipped with a gimbal suspension and a high-precision bearing, it achieves high initial motion sensitivity thanks to hand-assembly by skilled craftsmen. This meticulous construction ensures accurate tracking of the record grooves. It also includes a secondary weight, offering flexibility for a variety of cartridges.
Features for Even Clearer Sound
Silicone Vibration-Isolating Feet - For the feet that support the chassis, the SL-1300G uses a special silicone rubber that ensures high vibration damping and long-lasting reliability.
Superior-Quality Terminals - The turntable is equipped with gold-plated phono terminals for detachable cables, while metal-shielded construction inside the chassis reduces the effects of external noise.
Cushioning Materials and Cardboard Packaging
Cardboard packaging and cushioning materials have been adopted for the SL-1300G turntable. Corrugated cardboard has been used for the padding instead of styrene foam, reducing the amount of plastic used by over 70% compared to the SL-1200 turntable (ref. model).
