The Obsidian Folded Motion S Gen2 tweeter, Folded Motion waveguide, and 5.5" aluminum midbass driver work together here to create a completely unexpected and immersive experience from a compact footprint. The Foundation B1 is ideal for small spaces, especially when paired with a subwoofer, to create a highly musical and detailed experience wherever high-quality sound is desired. The Foundation B1 is also threaded to work with our STAND25 to create a stable stand-mounting solution, the MartinLogan Foundation, entry level so to speak!

MartinLogan has over 40 years of history, with a unique research and development laboratory in the world, equipped with the largest private anechoic chamber in North America.

Among the many excellences completely developed by the manufacturer, the thin-film tweeter, and just to name a few.

First of all on board the range is the FMT S Gen2 tweeter, developed specifically for Foundation, and combined with the waveguide Folded Motion waveform: together they are able to deliver high-quality sound with a homogeneous and controlled dispersion, ensuring the same performance throughout the room and reducing some of the negative effects of room acoustics. The Gen2 “S” motion tweeter uses an extremely low mass diaphragm that “squeezes” the air, thus requiring significantly less excursion than a typical 2.5cm dome tweeter. The folding of the membrane into an accordion structure increases the playable surface area, keeping the dimensions of the tweeter relatively compact and thus allowing for particularly clear and credible reproduction.

The Folded Motion Waveguide, in addition to improving the coherence of the reproduction, allows, as we were saying, an increase in the coverage area with controlled dispersion, which improves the natural emission of the tweeter by 10° in all directions, for a pattern of as much as 90° x 90°.

For the mid and low range, ad-hoc components with an aluminium membrane have been developed, capable of offering low mass and great energy thanks also to the enhanced magnetic motor.

The McCracken-Vojtko Crossovers could not be missing, now a tradition at Martin Logan, developed by the manufacturer over the years, and which now guarantees the best compromise between low distortion, in-room measurements and in-depth blind listening tests so as to develop a unique sound signature for each model.

Another aspect of great importance, much looked after in the Foundation Series, is the compensation of the sound bounce of the floor, and to do this, the Martin Logan engineers have designed the tower models using the floor to create a more coherent, natural and accurate compared to conventional designs.

To complete, finally, a design that although classic has numerous particularities, such as the 4 supports on the base that adapt to any floor surface, or the Stealth system that holds the grilles in place, allowing the listener to customize the look of each speaker even allowing them to rotate to change the grain of the fabric.

Compact size, but big voice. It is the smallest model in the Motion Foundation Series, amazing performance and positioning versatility.
