Louis Poulsen Vl Ring Crown 1 pendant lamp 19 cm white glass

The VL Ring Crown series has its origins in a lamp design created by architect Vilhelm Lauritzen for the Danish Broadcasting House in Copenhagen in the 1940s. The floor and pendant versions, with their characteristic organic shape, were installed at the Danish Broadcasting House. Vilhelm Lauritzen also created the VL38 and VL45 lamps for this project. The original VL Ring Crown was never used, but not long after, a Ring Crown was launched that drew inspiration from the original designs. In 1947, designer Finn Juhl, who worked for Vilhelm Lauritzen, used the VL Ring Crown as part of the interior design for the Danish porcelain manufacturer Bing & Grøndahl in Copenhagen. True to the original design and materials, the VL Ring Crown was reintroduced in 2019. The VL Ring Crown is made of polished, untreated brass and is available with three, five or seven shades of three-layer, mouth-blown, polished white opal glass. It has been complemented by the wall lamps and pendants originally installed in the Danish Broadcasting House. The VL Ring Crown family brings an authentic and distinctive touch to the world's most elegant interiors, as well as a warm light to gently illuminate contemporary living.

Lighting system

The luminaire emits light directed mainly downwards. The opal glass makes the area around the luminaire comfortable and even.

Information

The brass surfaces are untreated. Over time the surface may therefore change and develop a patina.

VILHELM LAURITZEN

Vilhelm Lauritzen (1894-1984) is one of the most significant Danish architects; he was a pioneer of Danish functionalism. Many of his buildings, including the Nørrebro Theatre, the Daells Varehus department store, the Radiohuset and the first airport built in Kastrup, represented the concentrated essence of contemporary life.
