Louis Poulsen Njp desk table lamp white

This lamp was designed by the Japanese design studio Nendo and designer Oki Sato. NJP Table is a new interpretation of the classic architect's lamp. Its simple and straightforward appearance contains the functional components of the lamp and makes its expression immediately understandable. The applications of the lamp have been considered in every detail. The two joints on the arm offer great flexibility, making it easy to adjust the position of the lamp. In addition to this, the springs of the joints are exposed and thus contribute to the decorative expression of the lamp. Likewise, the rear opening of the shade towards the arm ensures continuous adjustment of the head and ventilation of the LED units.

Lighting system

The luminaire provides direct, glare-free horizontal light, while at the same time reflecting a part of the light via the back of the head, illuminating the highest part of the arm. The ergonomic design of the luminaire head gives the light its shape and gives it optimal directionality. A simple mechanical system ensures great freedom of movement, so that the light is always set in the ideal position in the workspace. The shade is painted white on the inside, which produces a diffuse and pleasant reflection of the light.

Louis Poulsen is part of ELRETUR which ensures the reuse of electronic waste (WEEE) in Europe. This product must be treated as electronic waste. The product is packed in a fabric bag and a cardboard box. The cardboard is made of at least 75% recycled fiber. Additional cardboard material comes from FSC approved sources.

NENDO - OKI SATO

In 2002, Oki Sato founded the design studio nendo. Nendo means “clay” in Japanese, or more specifically, the modeling of clay such as plasticine. A unique material that makes creative modeling easy.

As Oki Sato explains: “The name is fitting for a studio that has to develop design solutions for a range of very different clients.” Oki Sato does not look at design like many iconic designers, who have focused on the mantra “form follows function.” Behind the product and its design, he also looks for the story.

His expression is minimalist, but contains some signals and details that bring out memories. He uses soft and pleasant shapes that make his design comfortable at first glance.
