YBA produces its own MC transformers in-house. Moving coil transformers are known for their dynamic qualities, definition, wide bandwidth, and great reproduction realism. These characteristics are attributable to the same operating principle as moving coils, which makes them ideal generators. This explains their continued success among the most demanding users.

However, their operation is very critical and depends mainly on the loading impedance and the adapter; the characteristics of these elements significantly influence the electrical behavior of the cartridge and, consequently, the quality of the reproduced sound.

The PH150 is compatible with MM, low-output MC, and high-output MC cartridges. You will note that the selector on the front panel of the PH150 offers only two options – MM or MC – while on the rear panel there are three inputs. The circuit is designed to automatically detect the type of moving coil cartridge in use and adjust the settings accordingly. This is in line with YBA's philosophy of avoiding unnecessary switching in the signal path.

It is strongly discouraged to connect MM and MC cartridges simultaneously, as the high amplification factor may cause output noise.

The PH150's power supply is separate from the main circuit. Since phono preamplifiers require high amplification, separating the power supply significantly improves performance. However, rather than making two separate units, we have chosen to integrate the power supply into a single chassis.

This is evident from the rear panel image and offers the option of using the standard Passion chassis styling and front panel design features.
