Andrée Putman
Born in Paris, Andrée Putman was one of the most renowned designers on an international level. She created important architecture and interior design projects for public and private spaces in countries around the world. During a period of her career, more precisely in the 1980s, her interest in art and design led her to revive and interpret some works by Eileen Gray, Robert Mallet-Stevens and Mariano Fortuny. Among her most significant projects are the Morgan's Hotel in New York, the Centre d'Art Plastique Contemporain in Bordeaux, the interior furnishings of the Concorde for Air France, the Pershing Hall Hotel in Paris, the Blue Spa and pool of the Bayerischer Hof Hotel in Munich, the Guerlain boutique in Paris, many private residences, and recently, "The Putman" skyscraper in Hong Kong.
As a designer, she has created a line of jewelry and silverware for Christofle, a porcelain collection for Gaia & Gino, and a reinterpretation of the famous Steamer Bag for Louis Vuitton. Another recent project was the "Espace Andrée Putman," an area named in her honor, located in the Stade de France in Paris. In January 2008, Bertrand Delanoë, Mayor of Paris, appointed her president of the first Comité Design, an association specifically created to advise and support the administration in all interventions and projects for the city.
